Straight Back Forward is a melodic punk rock band formed in Tokyo in 2020, bringing together vocalist Joshua from London and guitarist masasucks from Osaka.
masasucks brings decades of experience from legendary Japanese acts including Fullscratch, the HIATUS, Radiots, Puffy, Team Shachi, and J Band, while Joshua delivers raw vocal energy rooted in London's punk scene.
In July 2025, the band independently released their first demo, three tracks of raw energy that caught the attention of street labels and media across borders. This led to their signing with UK label JPU Records, who released their debut single "Don't Back Down" in October 2025.
The band's name embodies their philosophy: standing tall and moving ahead with fearless positivity, even through the challenges of the global pandemic that marked their formation.
