Formed in Tokyo in 2020, Straight Back Forward is the meeting point of two very different journeys.
Vocalist Joshua, raised in London, and guitarist masasucks (FULLSCRATCH, theHIATUS, J BAND, RADIOTS, STRAIGHT BACK FORWARD, PUFFY BAND, sometimes, etc...), who grew up in Osaka's west side, crossed paths in Tokyo. What connected them was the same heartbeat of their youth: melodic punk rock.
Even as the world was thrown into turmoil by the global pandemic in 2020, their passion stayed unshaken. They chose the name Straight Back Forward - a phrase that embodies standing tall and moving ahead - and began writing songs with that fearless positivity.
In July 2025, the band independently released their first demo, three songs of raw energy, to listeners worldwide. The tracks caught the attention of street labels and media across borders, leading to their first single release through UK label JPU Records in October 2025.
